Brian D'Addario, the eldest of the two songwriting brothers of The Lemon Twigs, recently announced his debut solo album Till the Morning. Out March 20th, it'll be the first release from their own label Headstack Records.

Following the group’s critically acclaimed Everything Harmony in 2023 and last year's follow up A Dream Is All We Know, Till the Morning is the latest studio production from the brothers and, unlike most solo records, wasn’t born out of any desire to break away from the group. Most of the songs were recorded alongside Brian’s brother Michael (D'Addario) , with Michael co-producing the record, singing harmony, and even co-singing lead on 2 of the songs.

Brian has also shared the driving title-track today, and had the following to say about the lead single:

"It's a love song having to do with those fleeting moments when you grasp something real, amidst all the noise and propaganda. ‘The night is pitch black until the morning.’ Maybe things need to completely collapse before they get better." - Brian D'Addario

Till the Morning features two collaborations with LA poet Stephen Kalinich. Kalinich is famous for his longstanding relationship with The Beach Boys. He cowrote "Little Bird" and "Be Still" with Dennis Wilson on their 1968 classic "Friends." He was signed as an artist to The Beach Boys’ Brother record label and his record A World Of Peace Must Come was produced by himself and Brian Wilson in 1969. It was most recently reissued by Light In the Attic in 2008.

“I met Stephen in 2017 after playing some of our first shows in LA. I was such a fan of his work and was struck by his dynamism and personality. He was dressed in all bright orange; in his words 'like a pumpkin!' For a while he was sending me poems and asking me to put music to them. When I read the words to 'What You Are Is Beautiful' it felt very musical and as soon I picked up the guitar it flowed easily. It was the same case about a year later when he sent ‘Song Of Everyone.’”, Brian states on working with Stephen Kalinich.

The album was written and recorded in multiple studios and states, united by themes of spiritual longing, isolation, social responsibility, karma and loss with Brian saying that "when I started putting this album together, it really hung together musically and thematically. It’s country baroque."

Proof once more of the prolific, seemingly limitless talents of the D'Addarios, with the focus squarely on Brian this time, "Till the Morning" will delight fans of The Lemon Twigs and all fans of richly melodic folk, rock and pop.
