On the heels of her arena tour supporting 5 Seconds of Summer, prolific breakout star Charlotte Sands has released her new single “get over it,” available to stream now on all DSPs worldwide. The 90s-tinged track, which pays homage to alt radio queens like Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morrisette, is about not wanting to let someone go and preferring to live inside the fantasy of a relationship that no longer exists. It comes ahead of Charlotte’s long-awaited debut album, can we start over?, releasing on January 24th, 2024.
“‘get over it’ is a song about the inability to let go of someone even when you know it’s the right thing to do. We wrote it about the feeling of being drawn to someone after ending a relationship, almost like this undeniable magnetic pull towards each other, and how easy it is to convince yourself to fall for the deception of those past emotions and previous history. I wanted the song to feel upbeat and happy and reflect the moments where you’re allowing yourself to be delusional about a non-existent relationship with this person. There’s something about letting go of what you’re supposed to do and instead leaning into the chaos of the situation that I felt inspired by and also very much related to.” - Charlotte Sands
In addition to releasing new music, Charlotte just wrapped up two back-to-back tour runs supporting The Band CAMINO + Bad Suns, followed by a European arena run with pop superstars 5 Seconds of Summer. The past year has seen Charlotte also share the stage with other high-profile artists like Yungblud, My Chemical Romance, The Maine, Simple Plan, and PVRIS, and also included her first US headline tour last fall.
In the years leading up to her debut album can we start over?, Charlotte has been prolific - constantly releasing music, charting at Top 40 radio for over 15 weeks, nominations for Breakthrough Artist at A2IM’s Libera Awards, taking home an award at London’s Heavy Music Awards, touring with legendary acts - all while remaining fiercely independent. She loves the freedom that being a fully independent artist grants you, making music on her own terms and releasing each song into the world when it feels right. Her debut album is the culmination of a lifelong dream, a project she waited to undertake until it aligned perfectly with her artistic vision.
