We were gone for the entire month of October (our literal favorite month), but we were busy celebrating Fall and Halloween. But we promised to still give you some of our favorite Halloween songs (along with some other Fall related songs) that we had on repeat for October 2024.
They Don't Know How To Fall In Place - The Lemon Twigs: We just recently saw The Lemon Twigs in St. Louis (photos here) and this was one of our favorite tracks performed life. As the Twigs are known for showcasing their influences like The Beatles and Beach Boys, their perfect harmonies always align with memorable melodies.
Hex Girl - Moon Sisters: "Hex Girl" comes from the Scooby Doo special - "Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost" (1999) and showcases the power women in music hold and The Hex Girls' witchy aesthetic.
Because You Live - Jesse McCartney: I'm here to say... I worked Jesse McCartney's show in October and he is one of the most genuine performers I've ever seen. Being able to still captivate your audience and perform the way he does on tour is truly amazing. "Because You Live" is a satisfying reminder of reassurance of how true love can embrace you, even when you're at your worst. Such lyrics - "Because you make me believe in myself when nobody else can help" - are timeless.
Season Of The Witch - Donovan: Everyone loves a good classic Halloween track and "Season Of The Witch" is a perfect match. This song echoes in October every year and is always playing in the back of my mind during the season.
Margaret - Lana Del Rey, Bleachers: Sweet symphonic sounds grace "Margaret" with swaying hymns and soft vocals. The lyrics - "When you know, you know" are enough to secure your soul. Although this is somewhat of a break up song, the captivating chorus and orchestral sounds feel as if they're a warm embrace, especially during the colder months.
Pt. 1 (Broken Bride) - Ludo: St. Louis natives Ludo made a name for themselves in the alternative rock scene in their early 2000s. In 2005, the band released an EP titled Broken Bride and hit a gold mine with their fan-base as the EP serves as a rock opera. The title track exclaims a man travelling back in time as an attempt to save his wife from a car accident in 1989.
love is embarrassing - Olivia Rodrigo: Let's face it - between two full-length albums, Olivia Rodrigo has proved she has a song for every kind of relationship, situationship, hookup, etc... But in an angsty 2000s pop rock kind of way. Throughout the track, she exclaims relatable lyrics, but the ones that scream the loudest - "I'm plannin' out my wedding for some guy I'm never marryin'."
Leaving Hogwarts - John Williams: Y'all know exactly what song this is... This song is featured at the end of The first two and very last Harry Potter films. Something about this song is so calming. I think it's the sense of familiarity that lives within the track and lets us know, Hogwarts is our home.
